So I just finished reinstalling Windows 7 and drivers in an old Lenovo B520 "All-In-One" Computer housing an I5-2310. Problem is: a few days after working perfectly I suddenly stop hearing the fans inside running and a quick check with Core-Temp and RealTemp say that my CPU is running at 70-85C while IDLE. That is WAY too high and no matter what I press to get into bios "F1-F12" it just puts me back into windows.

I have no idea what might be causing this problem however the CPU was running at 40% idle so I disable some services. I doubt thats the problem but thats the last thing I can remember doing before this problem arose.

Did I do something stupid? Has the fan simply failed and I should recycle the thing? Is this a common problem and there is a quick fix?

TL;DR- CPU overheating in Lenovo shit-box / cant use my netflix machine!

Solution
Your fan may have died, just look to see if it is spinning, 57 is high but not outrageous but if the fan has died it needs to be replaced. BIOS is unnecessary here. Thermal paste is getting old at 4 years but as it's not option don't worry about it.

Seems like the issue may be that your processor is doing something when it's not supposed to be so lets try and figure that out. I suspect this is not a hardware problem.

Open msconfig (windows+r) and select diagnostic startup which should put CPU usage back to ~1%, assuming that is the case go back to msconfig and select selective startup, then go to Services tab and select hide Microsoft services (down the bottom) and uncheck all items. Reboot and see your CPU usage. One at time check each service and reboot until you find an item that jacks up CPU usage and you have your culprit.

Ive just done that but my CPU usage was at 0-1% to begin with, all the services were either from Intel or Google and none of them caused any difference in cpu usage; but that brings me back to my main problem: Even at 0-1% my CPU temps vary from 50-57 Celsius . Re-applying thermal paste and/or changing to an aftermarket cooler is not an option in this case seeing as how its an "All-In-One" PC, so thats off the table. So my question remains: Can I fix this without tampering with the hardware? Is there a special way to get into the BIOS that Im unaware of? Do I leave it the way it is and wait until it sets fire?

I used to hear obnoxious fans inside the thing and now its fairly silent, have the fans turned off? I forgot to mention that its from like 2012 so its pretty old, does thermal paste even last that long?
