I recently switched my old gtx 770 to an 1060 and I was expecting a big improvement to fps in games like gta v with ultra settings.. But instead i'm now getting 30-50 frames in most games, with all settings(low, med, high, ultra) I'm really wondering whats the case here, any help? :/

CPU: i5 4670K 3.4 GHz
Mb: Asus Z87-C
RAM: 16Gb DDR3

(All of my drivers are up to date)

Solution
with new mb it download the file to a usb stick...unzip it and then run the bios updater from the bios. it run then reboot. after it reboots just make sure xmp and any old settings are still set.

Yeah i'm aware of that. But I had a budget of 300€ and for its price and performance the gtx 1060 6gb seemed like a good option. Before buying it I did some research and it should run almost every game with best settings and get a reasonable amount of fps(60+) Also the 770 had only 2gb of memory soo it was quite a jump for me

You think updating my bios would help? I haven't updated it since I assembled my pc back in 2013. And if I do so are there any risks, or is it just download & run kinda thing?
