Im currently in the progress of upgrading from 780sli to a 1080.

The question is do i keep one of the 780 sli to run my 2nd/3rd monitor off, since ill always just game on the primary monitor.

Also would i benefit from running the Phys of the seperate card, or would that create issues, since its an older card?

Solution
A GTX 1080 will easily run two monitors if only one of those is used for gaming, so the GTX 780 is redundant in that regard.

A dedicated Physx card can be advantageous, assuming your PSU can cope with the extra power, but it's most beneficial when the primary card is a low-mid range one. Chances are, a GTX 1080 will manage Physx just fine on its own.

There's also the issue that only a handful of games use Physx, which is not to be confused with GameWorks. The Batman and Metro games are heavy on Physx and I believe the latest game to use the technology is Fallout 4.

I use a GTX 750 for dedicated Physx but my primary card is a GTX 770, which is average at best.
