Laptop will not pick up WiFi signal

Hey guys,

So I just bought myself a new router. It's a UTT AC60.

I've connected it to my desktop and modem using the system setup wizard. Everything works great. I then try to connect my iPhone and that too works. It picked it up immediately and connected as soon as I entered the password.

The problem came when I tried to connect my laptop. I have an Asus and it's running Windows 10. Basically, my router does not show up under the list of available WiFi signals on my laptop. I live in an apartment complex and I'm picking up all sorts of signals, just not mine.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Even a 2.4 Ghz N only laptop, "should" see AC standard wifi with no problems.

Since it is new equipment, are you sure you set the SSID of the router properly and you know what it is? It is an easy mistake to make. Power cycle the router and the laptop and look again.

Other things to try.
Look in the router settings and try using the "N" standard.
Temporarily turn off the security to see if that makes a difference.
Alternately, try installing a new driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site or the card manufacturer's site.

Hello all,

Thanks for the suggestion and comments. I've messed with it a little bit and this is what I've found.

1.My laptop supports the 802.11n standard. However, this particular router outputs at two different frequencies: 2.4 GHZ (11b/g/n) and 5 GHZ(11a/n Mixed), so I don't believe that is the problem. Those values in the parentheses are in a drop down list for a category called "Wireless Mode." I figure those are fine since they both have "n" in the value?

2. Through the process of Turning on airplane mode => disabling my adapter in the device manager => re-enabling it => turning off airplane mode, I manage to make the signal show up. However, I cannot connect to it. Every time it fails to connect, the signals disappear and I have to repeat the process as well.

3. I've tried disabling the password, that does not work ether.

4. When it does try to connect, though, it asks for the security key, do you want your PC to be discover-able by other PCs and devices on this network?, checking network requirements, then it's just the loading dots for a long time. Almost like it's about to but it's being stopped.

Also, I was at work earlier and my laptop connected just fine to the Wi-Fi and my phone still picks up my router right away.
Any other ideas?

Hey all,

I got it! I feel silly, but it was a matter of just changing the Wireless Channel from "Auto" to "10." I don't believe 10 is special, it's just a matter of not being on auto.
