CPU temp went to 90+ degrees C while playing without cpu fan. only heatsink.

I had to put in a new RAM and I had to disconnect the cpu fan on the heatsink. I installed the CPU fan physically but didn't plug it in properly. After three hours of GTA5, I checked the temp and it was at its 90s. I don't remember what exactly.

Now the load temp of CPU was 48 before when the heatsink and CPU fan was installed properly.
But after plugging in the CPU fan properly after realizing my mistake, now I am getting 60 at idle. Should I reapply thermal paste or something? Or has something totally been damaged?

Also, I'm an idiot.
I made two mistakes.

First, I didn't plug in the CPU fan properly, as I mentioned before.
Second, I loosened the heatsink halfway to remove the CPU fan that was in the way of the RAM. I forgot to tighten this back up..Just realized this now and now the temps are idle at 33.
