Ok I just finished installing a new mb and new cpu in my computer I wanna make sure I do the right thing do I stick the win 7 CD in drive and start it up ? O the HDD has win 10 on it I will have to format it first .am I doing it right

you're reinstalling windows 7? put the CD in the drive and make sure the bios is set to boot from the optical drive first. the disc will format the drive automatically right before the windows install

Why win 7? Does that HDD have oem windows or retail version?

Do as stated above. Make sure clean install when prompted.

If retail you can use it with a new mb. Only OEM can't be moved and that's debatable with win 10
