Just got my new computer a few days ago and i wanted to do a benchmark to compare performance and check temperatures and i get a score of only 14.388 on firestrike.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15551477

I noticed other people getting scores averaging 16.000-17.000 so this got me concerned.

Specs:

i7 6700k (stock)
Asus z170 pro gaming/aura
Asus Strix Rog GTX 1070
16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz

CPU Temp: Max 65
GPU Temp: Max 69

Solution
why I say take all that ''scores'' with a grain of salt any system configuration will change thing night and day .. his 980ti scores are oc'ed mine are box stock [non k non i7 cpu as well]

then notice how my run combined score is higher ??? but he did better in the rest , go figure don't add up to me

it sems a 1070 is about equal to a 980ti so with that you not so bad

one thing I see and something I do look back at is not going with a i7 or xeon - you see with a old i7 he got with hyper threading makes some nice differences over i5 [lesson learned] hate to think if I had a nice i7 how much better my scores would be ?

good luck

I really don't know, how can i check further more? And even if it was that high, why is performing lower than other cards?

Edit: GPU Tweak shows a maximum of 1503 GPU Clock while playing Rainbow Six Siege.

I ask myself that very same question. Why are others sitting at 16000 score when I have an identical card with identical clock speed? Not really sure... You should try running another benchmark. For example Unigine Heaven 4.0 that measures your avg FPS too (it also displays your current clock speed in the upper right corner).

GPU Tweak shows a maximum of 1503 GPU Clock while playing Rainbow Six Siege.
Also i will do the other benchmark too.

I just read your edit... 1503 clock speed seems very low for a GTX 1070. The lowest clocked GTX 1070's are reference models that sit at 1683 clock speed. Mine goes up to 2000. But some programs just show the current clock speed. GPU's usually lower their clock speeds when they are idle (mine sits at 240 Mhz when idle). The other possibility is that your GPU is lowering its clock speeds because it isn't getting the necessary voltage/power. What is your PSU?

EDIT: BTW Rainbow Six Siege isn't really a demanding game. Maybe the GPU clock is lower because it doesn't need more "horsepower" to run Rainbow Six Siege. Try running a game that REALLY pushes your PC to the limit and then read the clock speed.

I would download MSI Afterburner and enable OSD, that way you can monitor clock speeds as the benchmark is running and see what the card is actually boosting to, if at all. And you can keep an eye on temperatures.
I'd also try reinstalling your drivers. Incorrect clock speeds or incorrect reported clock speeds are frequently caused by driver issues.

My score; http://www.3dmark.com/fs/10036018
^ 1070 @ 2GHz and i5 @ 4.4GHz

My PSU is EVGA Supernova 650 G2
The clock speeds displayed by the benchmark were 1911 and GPU Tweak and MSI Afterburner showed ~1860

Your score seems to be a bit lower than mine but at the same time I also have about 100MHz higher clock speed than you. It looks fine to me I would say... but I am not a expert in this so I don't really know.

Here is my score for comparison: http://i.imgur.com/QH0Gk0F.png

try another driver it can and will make a difference that one guys and you results are on different drivers ? the latest NVidia driver hurt my scores with any card overclock but helped my scores box stock settings [NVidia gimping ??] seems funny but went back to my old driver and all's good

so may need to grab a few drivers and test them out to see what driver works the best on your system ..

also when you look at these results take them with a grain of salt

What driver version do you recommend?

I'd try reinstalling the current one to begin with.

cant say you got to try and test for you system 372.90 took a hit with any overclock of the card like 200 points in firestrike but at default stock clock and no overclock it gained in score ?? so for me I did not see using a driver that hurt my overclocks not that I run overclocked all day only when I feel like it in a bench or something out side of that I run my cards at stock

so many factors that can come in to play between you system his system and the guys down the roads system then you got good old luck of the draw on top of all, that

good luck

just to add then i7 skylake physics scores are sweet compared to my haswells i5 [7680] but the graphics scores looks short my 980 ti is 19911

I figured the 1070 would be a lot better ??

why I say to take all that score comparing with a grain of salt

something isn't right. i would use ddu to safely and completely flush out your video drivers to rule out driver conflicts.

do the safe mode restart removal as recommended.

also while you are there, uninstall that asus gpu tweak and use msi afterburner since it is much better. also download gpuz and use it to verify your clock speeds.
https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2823/techpowerup-gpu-z-v1-12-0

you should be scoring at least another 2000 higher on the graphics score than you are. im suspecting that the asus gpu tweak is somehow underclocking your card. you said 1503mhz reported, then 3dmark reported an absurdly high 2.5ghz. your card should be automatically boosting to 1860mhz. so something isnt right.

here is my 980ti@1.5ghz for comparison.... http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15347171

and nevermind your overall score as your 6700k is running at stock so compared to others at 4.6ghz across all cores are going to score much higher in the combined and physics score. we are only really concerned with the graphics score here.

Hello, I did a full Windows install, my card is actually running at ~1860mhz. I forgot what graphical score I got on 3dmark but i will do another one tomorrow and let you know. In both unigine benchmarks I get ~90-93fps, compared to other people it's the same. Again tomorrow i will let you know what graphics score i get.

Solution
like you say theres more to computing then gaming .. nothing wrong with my i5 but I do look back with the old ''what if''

i'll not do another i5 I all ways been a amd guy and never look intels way up till I got in to AM3+ and seen I needed to ditch amd and move on [LOL] so that was my first intel build in 16 years so I was not 100% up on things but as they say hindsite is 20/20 and I'll know better next time as they say

the i5 does great but I do from time to time see its short commings in a few things here and there I think now the xeon would of been a better choice overall in the end
