Artifacts problem, what is going on?

Hey guys!
Can help me to understand this?
My gpu shows artifacts but i realized that these disappear when crossfirex mode is enabled.
What is going on?
Also, do artifacts damage the gpu or the monitor?

Artifacts don't damage anything, but could be the sign of a damaged gpu. First, try booting into safe mode. If you still get artifacts, your gpu is probably dying. If it works fine in safe mode, try completely uninstalling drivers and reinstalling latest ones. If you still get artifacts, do a reinstall of Windows.

EDIT: But if it works fine with crossfirex enabled, don't fix what isn't broken...
