I have a asus maximus vii ranger z97 mb, had the change of upgrading to 2x8gb ram, bought kingston hyper x savage 2400mhz cl 11 ram

I got whea blue screen Windows Hardware Error Architecture i changed back to ram slot 2 and 4
still got whea blue screen, had it running cl 10 with no problem other than whea blue screen
that i also had with cl 11, sat it manually to 2400mhz and voltage was 1.650volt

Raised vcore a bit (i5 4690k 4.2ghz no turbo) now at stock vcore (1.125-1.131) might lower it a bit (since i don't any more get whea blue screen) it didn't do anything for my whea problem (my cpu is new)

I installed my 2x4gb g skill tridentx 2400mhz cl 10 in ram slot 2 and 4 had no whea blue screen (thank you g skill for making good ram)

My cpu is a dual channel cpu so im thinking 2x ram blocks is the best

What performance difference is there with 4x4gb compared to 2x8gb ram (atm i google but havn't found an answer,a test/review that shows if theres a difference between 2 and 4 ram blocks)

best 2x8 or 4x4 gb 2133mhz cl 9 or 2400mhz cl 10 ram?

Noticed the ram was just slightly over 16000 mb where my tridentx is just under 8000mb not shure if that makes a differnce since my mb only supports 32gb ram 4x8gb and since the kingston savage ram was just a bit more than 2x8gb it might be the problem?

"What performance difference is there with 4x4 ram compared to 2x8gb"

Your motherboard has Dual Channel Memory Architecture (not quad like X99 motherboards), which means if you can use 2 sticks instead of 4 it will provide less stress to the CPU and memory controller. The 2x8 pack would be the most efficient for your motherboard. It's impossible to provide a meaningful graph because the impact is so varied between motherboard and CPU models, but if you can get the required amount of RAM in 2 modules it would be the better option.

I thought so (2x8gb is best) after reading this 2 x 8gb vs 4 x 4gb Dual Channel

never said i wanted to avoid G Skill

I just wanted something not kingston, since i might also get problems with fury ram, although they are more standard, universal ram that should be compatible with all modern mb's (better compitable than hyperx savage which is high performance ram)

Those will run on the Asus Maximus vii Ranger z97 just fine.

Those QVL lists become outdated very quickly and are in no way comprehensive. Same is true of motherboard spec sheets that try and list some of the most popular brands of compatible RAM when they first release.
