Do more cores require more power supply watts?

I currently have a AMD FX8370 on 4 cores instead of 8 and I am wondering what performance impact I would have when switching to 8 cores and if it would require more watts. I don't know what psu I have (notcomputersmart)

It's more a question if motherboard VRM section can supply enough power for 8 cores than PSU. In whole system, difference is almost negligible. If your PSU is that close to it's limits, you better change it because it may burn out and take other components with it.
