Considering OP is talking about the RX 470, I'd assume they wouldn't have the 6GB 1060 in their price range.

6GB version is the right choice if you can get one at a decent price. That's why I STATED 6gb above.

Only correct to a degree, the RX 480 4GB and the 1060 3GB perform almost identically, but:
A. you won't really use up to 3GB of VRAM at 1080p anyway in most cases save for a few intensive titles, I mean look at the 970.
B. the 1060 outperforms the RX 480 by a miniscule margin in most titles and is far better optimized.
C. the 1060 3GB is often far cheaper, putting AMD in a strange spot.

The cheapest RX 470 is $250, the cheapest 1060 is $260 in the ITX model.
