Im planning on water cooling my PC (i7 4790k and gtx 1070) with a custom loop. and was wondering if my Gigabyte GA-Z97p-D3 motherboard would be a problem for reaching relatively high and stable overclock.

If my motherboard would be a problem could anyone recommend a motherboard for around £100. The cheaper the better but obviously performance is king. I only have two drives and have no plans for SLI. I don't care about any bells and whistles and use an Ethernet cable for internet so don't require AC WiFi.

Yes the motherboard supports overclocking, but no it's not a very strong overclocking board. I can't give you an estimate on high an OC you would get because there are too many different variables. I CAN tell you that you wouldn't notice a difference in performance after overclocking unless you're running benchmarks.

My best advice is to NOT spend a lot of money, time, and effort into overclocking it. I would set it at max turbo full time and call it a day. Your money would be better spent somewhere else.

I'm mainly doing this for fun rather than because I think it will actually greatly improve performance so as you have said my motherboard is a weak overclocker could you recommend me a better one?
