Does this power supply still work on a Maxwell card?

Gf's 980Ti low end workstation / gaming combo had a dead PSU, put in a temporary test unit and nothing died. We're looking at CXM units and we saw that all of them have 1 8-pin PCIe slot. I see the 980Ti she has appears to have an 8 pin and 6 pin connector. Do we need to find a PSU for both? Can the 6 pin connector just be a peripheral port?

Solution
rmx series are elite.

however for under 60 dollars(usa) you can get a great quality psu that works great with your 980ti, just not modular.

cxm series are bad except the new ones (the cx450m cx550m and cx650m).
I think the RMx series would work then, all I needed was clarification on whether or not I could use the CXM on the 980Ti.
We were trying for under 60, I heard CXM wasn't that bad but with a more extreme card (for it's day) and an i7 I now realize that's kinda foolish even without overclocking.

Yeah I don't go with the original builders, only the CXM's. (The originals don't have the M's, also different construction of course and different color scheme)

We were going for a clean cable setup in the side window and I think the RMx might just be worth the investment because it's quality is good and it's modular and fits her needs now and when the expansion itch settles in. Thanks for the advice.
