What can happen if CPU cores get to 100%?

I have an i5 6600k, and 16 gb of ram. So just now I used Lightworks to edit a video, rendered about 10 minutes. But then Norton notified me it had high CPU usage so I checked HWMonitor and 2 cores reached 100% while the others topped 98%. Video finished fine but should I worry about this? I plan to do one more video like this. The temperatures themselves were only in the 50 degrees celsius range.

no, my cores hit 100% allt he time, it just means your computer will run slow till what ever is using the cpu is finished

Nothing if its not overheating. That's generally a good thing, it means your program is able to fully leverage your cpu to help edit your videos. What does HWmonitor say your temps are at when its under that load?

Edited it in but 47 - 57 degrees celsius.

Then it's fine. It could probably run for quite a few years constantly at 100% usage without failing if temps are that low.

yeah, your real good, inlike like somepeople i know that overclock the cpu so it hits 85 c and says ehh itll be fine.... that person may or may not be me
