ASRock H110M-HDS or H170M-PLUS

Solution
Well, yes, 8GB is a really nice number, but at today almost everyone recommends 16GB of ram (i'm not saying you need to go for more ram!)

About wired adapters, mainly not. I'm saying this mainly because maybe the system is too far from the router/modem (like my case) so, maybe that is a point of interest to think.

Also, the H170M supports M.2 (but i'm not sure if you will need it).

Both choices are great, its your call, but i would pick the H170M (if i'm not wrong, its from ASUS, no way to go wrong).

Its your choice

I can afford either but just not sure which to pick. What would more RAM slots be good for? Don't most games need only 8GB? I could see myself using a sound card but I would be fine without it. never would use wireless. Do wired adapters give better performance than the MBs? As for SATA slots, I don't think I would see myself using more than 4.

My PC is close enough for wired. I have little knowledge of M.2 it is like an SSD but faster? also for my budget is around $390 currently I have an FX-6300 and Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB. I haven't decided really Maybe I buy a liquid cooler and OC my 6300 and then when I have enough money get an i5 6600k. Or just get an I5-6500 right away. I am not sure how much I can save in the coming holidays either I am trying to play new and modern titles at 60 fps on 1600x900.

Yes. M.2 is faster than a SATAIII SDD. But, depends the case if it worth or not. If you're only going to play, then i would pick the cheap choice here (SSD).

I think the upgrade will worth, but if you're going for H motherboard, pick a non K cpu from intel.

Thank you for your help, You have been on of the more informative people to post. Currently, I am not going to get an SSD due to my budget. I would like to get one but making sure I can get good fps is taking priority over it for now. I am aware the 6600k does need Z170-A which is one of the problems as that MB costs 3x as much. I also might need to upgrade my GPU. I am learning towards the I5-6500 But I am not sure if I will regret it later. Do you think the I5-6500 will be fine for 60fps gaming for awhile? Currently, It would cost me $314.71 for I5-6500 upgrade and $515.92 for the I5-6660k

Well, CPU technology changes year to year, the problem will not be the CPU.

But at today, there is no way an i5 will underperform at your resolution.

FYI, i own a i5 4690 (released Q2'14, almost 2 years old), and i played @ 60fps 1080p with a R9 390 (no longer own it D:, i'm currently looking to get a GTX 1070)

Less words: There is no way to regret a choice when you want to get an i5.

In fact, something i want to add, the future CPU generations will support the LGA 1151 Skylake socket, so, if you have in plans upgrading in 2-3 years, you can upgrade the CPU directly (you will need a motherboard BIOS update, you can do it yourself) to Kaby Lake. ( Or just wait it some time, i think it will be released @ 2017 ).

I mean I might regret getting an I5-6500 and then needing a 6660k but I would have to replace my MB to OC the 6600K. But yeah If they make a better CPU that doesn't need to be OC and will work with the H110 or H170 it should be fine.
