Most of the motherboards that run the CPU are BGA Cpu's, meaning can't be removed without a certain tool like the pin grid array. If you want you can take apart your computer and see for your self, but not if you're new to doing that type of work. Then you have to worry about if your bios supports running that chip (CPU) and if not well your SCREWED!!!! I say just upgrade to an SSD that makes world wonders, and ram if you only have like 2 gb. The most you need for ram is 4gb, but that's all I would stick to doing unless you know a-lot about computers.
