Surround sound audio through stereo speakers

Just wondering if I play surround sound audio through my stereo speakers/stereo headphones is the audio still the same? Like does it degrade the audio quality in any way or do I lose any sounds or any thing?

Netflix has higher audio quality in surround sound form and I only have stereo speakers. It does sound the same and a little bit better but just a little bit paranoid haha.

Well, no. It won't degrade sound quality but if you're using windows 10 for netflix streaming I'd suggest using the app within the microsoft store, it streams better quality IMO

I personally use my speakers with a virtual surround sound and they sound amazing!

Yeah I just found out about this but it's only:
96 for stereo (shocking!!!)
192 for surround sound

So it's exactly the same as if the audio was in 192 stereo?
