Hi all - I have a strange problem trying to print double sided on my (new) Epson XP 530 Expression printer. Basically it doesn't seem to work..!

I select the Print on both side option in the print driver pop up, and it prints the first page, but then there is an error message on the printer display saying "Incorrect paper size detected, load the correct paper size then press <I>" and it doesn't "suck" the sheet back in to print the other side.

I get this for any document, so I know there isn't a problem with the actual paper/document formats etc.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Philip - thanks for that, but I am not sure that is the case. My interpretation is that the manual way to print is an option. But there is also an automatic option in the Printer Driver dialog and this should also work.

I did initiate an online chat with Epson support and I got as far as doing a 2-sided photocopy, and this did automatically suck the sheet back in and print on the second side. So I know the mechanism is working ok. My network went down and then I had to leave so didn't get chance to get back in touch.

Based on that I assume there must be some setting somewhere, possibly related to paper size (?) that needs amending.

Cheers,
RIchard

Hi Richard

Did you solve your duplex question. I have an XP-900 which is giving me the same error message and I can't find the solution.

Many thanks for any response.

Hi - I did eventually resolve this. It was down to the default paper size. I think it was defaulting to an American paper size which whilst close to UK A4 size was not quite the same and so I think the printer was confused. Now, if I need print double sided I make sure I choose A4 and it works.
