Hello everyone. I recently bought a Gigabyte GA-M52S-S3P motherboard, but when I set up all the cables, some problems appeared. Firstly, turning the pc on would make the fans spin for only a split second before stopping, but I managed to fix this by unplugging and plugging the PSU. However I now have a bigger problem. When I turn on the PC, the PSU and CPU fans start spinning, but the graphics card fan does not. Bizzarely, it DOES spin for a second after i turn the switch on the PSU to turn it off. Any advice?

Solution
The only thing I can think of is to buy the cheapest AM2 processor you can find, like the Sempron 2800+ and get it booting with that, then update the BIOS and install the other processor.

I wanted more ram slots, as my old mobo had only 2 slots. And sure, processor is Athlon II X2 250, gpu is nvidia 630, psu is 230V 5A max 500W, 2x4Gb and 2x1Gb ram(total 10), and the GA-M52S-S3P mobo.

do you have anything that show that the board currently has "F4F" bios flashed to it, sometimes a label somewhere on the board. Your cpu is only compatible if it has that bios version on it (it was the last bios update for that board).

manufactures site says there were only 4 bios offered......F1, F2, F3 and F4F..... you need to have the final one.

Removing either pair of ram cards didnt work either, and I can't fnd any F4F label on the board, and i cant boot my pc up to check , obviously. If it helps, the pc does not make a beep sound when i turn it on.

I just had this happen to me recently but the GT 740 GPU I was using doesn't turn on the fan during boot. Found out it was set to only run when needed, above 60 degrees celcius if I recall. Also there is a way to change that setting but I don't have that computer anymore so can't tell you where it is.

Really? The cpu support list states that Athlon II x2 is supported with tge F4F bios, but I can't really download and install that if I can't turn it on, right?

That is confusing, if you look at the specifications : http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2567#sp it does not mention any AM3 processors but when you got to the support section and the CPU list http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2567 it does say it supports that processor with the F4F BIOS.

Actually have never seen that before, learn something new everyday!

But then comes the rub as you said, if you don't have F4F then how do you boot to install it?

after some more research. there is no way to update your bios without it posting first that I could find

your cpu is a am3 but some am2+ motherboards can support a am3 cpu as long as the bios has the coding to boot it, and the cpu in question has an internal memory controller that can run ddr2(am2+ mode) or ddr3(am3 mode).

also because your using it in a am2+ motherboard you have to use ddr2 ram. ddr3 ram requires a am3 socketed motherboard.

your cpu is one that is am3/am2+ compatible cpu so the cpu itself is not an issue.

after all this leads me to two questions

1. are you using ddr2 800mhz ram???? I'm assuming you have dd2 and not ddr3 installed as they have different notch positions so manly is the speed rating correct?

2. do you have to correct bios on the motherboard?????? a question we just cant answer without having a posting system, and if it doesn't we cant solve without a posting system. :(
