Hi there, I'm looking to upgrade my PC.
I currently have the HP Pavilion Elite e9200z which can be found here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c01911649

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) X4 620 processor (2.6GHz)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce G210

As you can see from my specs, my PC is very outdated for gaming. I was wondering if I would be able to just upgrade those parts without changing the motherboard or would I have to get a new motherboard all together? Also would I have to upgrade my power supply as well?

I mainly play games such as CounterStrike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, and the new Civ VI.

Because the NVIDIA GeForce G210 has DirectX 10.1 it would not let me run Civ VI because it requires at least DirectX 11.

Would it be better to upgrade the parts or buy a new pc all together? I'm new to PC building so all advice is greatly appreciated!

Option 1 is buy a new pc
Option 2 is buy a new psu and gpu. I don't know your budget so I can't recommend something atm.
Also if you go with option 2 please know that that cpu will bottleneck a whole bunch of gpu's on the market.

Unfortunately, this is a 7-year-old rig with parts that were entry-level even at the time. The time that an upgrade made sense was sometime in 2011 or 2012. At this point, you'd need to upgrade essentially every part except *maybe* the hard drive and even in the case of the HDD, physical hard drives are typically at or past their life expectancy by now.
