Hi everybody,

I'm having some confusion about upgrading my existing machine with the new Gigabyte PCX GeForce GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming 8GB GDDR5
I am aware that there are many threads regarding this graphics card and I've read many of them, but I still have some doubts on whether it is fine to only plug in the new card and I'd be "ready to go".

I have to note that I'm using my machine for work in 3ds Max and VRay rendering. I'm working with large and complex architectural scenes.

Specs:
Motherboard: Foxconn P67A-S
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.4GHz - Sandy Bridge
RAM: 12GB DD3 Kingston HyperX (considering upgrading to 32GB)
GPU (current): Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 2GB DDR5
Power Supply: CODEGEN 550W

and two Philips 60Hz monitors

Will there be some drawbacks? Do I need to change some other parts to get the full advantage of this upgrade?

Thank you.

Thank you!
So it will work right off the bat?

Can you suggest some PSUs? As in higher power, or as in a better manufacturer?

Really no point in spending so much on a 1070 when for example the Gigabyte Windforce is Way cheaper and performs just the same with boost 3.0

I wouldn't recommend 'anything' from antec or xfx. They got good PSUs and Bad ones.

Highest quality:
Seasonic X/SnowSilent
Corsair Rmx/Rmi/Hx/Ax
XFX XTR/XTS
Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platin
Evga Supernova G2/P2/GS
Antec High Current

High quality:
Seasonic G
XFX TS Gold

Good quality:
Antec High Current Gamer
XFX Pro/Core/Ts Bronze
EVGA B2
Seasonic S12/S12II/M12/M12II
Corsair CXM 450/550/650

Stay clear Off:
Corsair CX/CS/CSMVS
Corsair CXM 430/500/600
Antec Neo
XFX XT

12 GB RAM is all you need right now and you need seriously memory demanding games + an open Browser and Background applications to.fill the 12 GB up

Thank you guys!

As I said, I'm using my machine for 3ds+Vray work (rarely some gaming). I'm considering more RAM to improve my 3ds workflow performance, so I'm able to manage "heavier" scenes + the new GPU - higher frame and scene refresh rates.
Where I'm from, the difference between the Xtreme and the Windforce is $30 so...

I was worried since people were saying that with a Sandy Bridge CPU/MB I wouldn't gain the full benefits this GPU has to offer.

Of course, in due time, I will upgrade my motherboard and CPU.
