I was playing Gears of war 4 with my gtx 980ti, and suddenly my fps dropped a lot and while this was happening I heard multiple consistent kinda like shocks like , "CHE CHE CHE CHE" then my screen went black but my pc was still on. Then i went over to my tower and turned it off and unplugged it, while i was doing this i smelt a burning smell from my video card. It was so bad i couldn't be in the same room. Also I haven't changed anything about my pc so nothing new except the game.
I took the card out and installed a back up gtx 770 i played gears and sometimes it drops to 5 fps occasionally for a few seconds and i get scarred it will happen again.I have played a lot with this 770 and everything has been fine. My new replacement gtx 980ti has came in and i haven't installed it cause i'm scarred it will happen again.
I don't know what caused this But i want to know. Also i have 45 days left on my evga warranty I obviously used it to get my replacement. Do i have infinite replacements till the days are up ?
