Hello!

I'd like some opinions on a good motherboard and CPU purchase in the $200-250 range.

I have 16 GB of DDR3 RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 7950 GPU that I am still quite happy with, but I've lately been finding my CPU causing major bottlenecks in terms of performance.
My current CPU is the AMD Phenom II X4 975. If I had the option I would simply upgrade it, unfortunately my ASUS Crosshair IV Formula motherboard solely limits me to the AM3 socket type (I think). Looks like I'll need to upgrade both. Opinions?

Thanks,
Scooter

Eh no particular reason. I've only ever built this one pc and went AMD, but I'm open to use whatever. Also I have a mid-tower case with a standard ATX mobo. Are micro-atx boards compatible?

It should, What is your case? Also, You will need DDR4 RAM for an H110M. You will also Need a new OS, Unless you have a Windows license.

I'm good on Windows. I'm legit Windows 10. My case is a Cooler Master HAF 922.
