Hi,
Sorry if I have this in the wrong category, I wasn't sure of the best one to choose.

I'm currently having a problem where my computer shuts down without notice on graphically intensive games.

What's odd is that it doesn't happen on all the games. I can play DOOM on full settings without any problems, but if I play either Black Ops 3 or Quantum Break, my computer will suddenly shut down without any warning.

My current specs are:
CPU: Intel I7 3770K
GPU: GTX 1070 MSI Gaming
RAM:Corsair 16GB 1600MHz
PSU: Powercool 750W 80+ Single 12V V2.2 High Efficiency PSU
OS: Windows 8.1

I ran 3DMark Firestrike Ultra and these are my HWmonitor readings:

Thanks in advance.
C

Yeah, I was thinking that could be the case. I got that as a cheap PSU awhile back before I started upgrading my computer.

I thought my CPU could be getting too hot. I use This for my CPU cooler and was considering replacing it with a Corsair Cooler at the same time as a new PSU (maybe corsair 80+ 650W).

Unless you have a massive overvolt on your cpu then that's probably fine to cool your cpu. Have you overclocked it at all? It's possible that your cpu isn't getting enough voltage or that your psu's ripple is too high and your cpu's load line voltage is too close to the voltage necessary to not crash. Regardless, I'd still replace your PSU.

Actually a couple of times I have gone into the BIOS setup after my computer has had its unexpected shutdown and the voltage on the CPU has been really high then after a few seconds it goes back down to normal.
I haven't tried overclocking it yet, but was planning to later down the line.
Yeah I think I'll go for the PSU and hopefully that will sort out the problem.

Thanks for the help

I thought I would update this for anyone having the same problem as me.
I installed a new PSU and re-applied thermal paste to the CPU and since then I've had no problems with my computer shutting down on any intensive games and my CPU max temp has not gone over 61c and graphics card hasnt gone over 69c.
When I opened up my computer, the old PSU was really hot and it was heating up the rest of the components.

Hope this helps anyone having the same problem.
