Upgrading My cpu to i5 is it possible??

Hello i have an old dell precision 390, can i put an intel core i5 in there to replace the intel 2 core duo .
i want to do this because i am trying to give it a new life.
so is this possible and if not what to do??

No, the chipset and socket won't support it. If your motherboard supports the Q6600 and Q9650 that's the best you can do; I'd just get a new computer, this platform is dead.

Q9650, but it's not supported by all mobos and costs $25 on ebay as opposed to $15 for the Q6600. You'll need to do some research to see what your mobo supports, we can't tell you from here as there are apparently two versions.
