Hey guys

so i bought a sandisk ssd drive 120GB about 4 months ago and installed it on my laptop. once every 2-3 weeks the drive fail (i guess and when i enter BIOS i dont see the drive listed on the SATA slots, at the same time i have a second hdd drive installed in the DVD drive slot using a adapter. it detects the HDD but not the SSD. it only detect SSD after some time is passed or if i load default BIOS settings and turn it to AHCI >>>>BTW the AHCI is enabled and still happens
i'm sick of the problem cause now i need my laptop for my lecture

Laptop is Dell Latitude E6420

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, @Amer_960!

I'd strongly recommend you check how your SSD appears when connected to another desktop or laptop, if you have access to one. Another thing you might want to try is resetting BIOS and then re-configure any manual changes in the settings you have made because they will go back to factory defaults. If that doesn't help either, I'd recommend going to the laptop manufacturer's official website and checking for any BIOS version updates for your model.
If the SSD is not being properly detected from multiple systems, then you should probably consider sending an RMA request to the manufacturer's or reseller's customer support. Since the solid state drive is relatively new, it should still be covered by the warranty.

Let me know how the troubleshooting is going, though. Hope this helps you! :)

Yes check the SSD is good.
I have had something similar.
In my case it has been multiple hard drives.
These hard drives are good.
But I have BIOS showing the SATA ports empty when hard drives connected.
On an intermittent basis.
I have now noticed that the hard drives are not spinning even though the computer is powered up.
I am going down route of checking out PSU and replace all cables.
To be sure that power is arriving at hard drives.
