two story house, dsl router is upstairs. needing to get internet downstairs. entire house is wired with cat5 cables using old phone jacks, i get that i have to wire rj45 ends to replace the phone jack ones. but when it comes to wiring the NID im so lost. opened up the NID box and it has two wires from street to NID ( blu and blu/whte and from there it has two wires (same colors) going into the house (my master room phone jack to dsl router)...how would i be able to make this happen if at all possible. the NID box is the newer ones that have a closed lid where both blu and blu/whte wires meet inside it. wireless router wouldnt be an option since materials used to build the house kills the wifi signal throughout the house.

hi jsmithepa, yes it is cat5 cables running through each phone jack of the house. the phone jacks are only using 4 wires of 8. the one in my room was rewired to match the 2 wires that are in the NID

so let me understand, the house has Cat5 cabling going from room to room and was configure to run a phone system using only 2 pairs on a standard phone jack plug. and now you want to change it to use it to rj45 plugs and utilize it for your router. ?

only issues I see is, the other end of the wires are connected where ? and how many drops of CAT5 are you looking at (could not see your picture)

a direct answer to your question is how do I wire Rj45 Connector to Cat5 cabling is where you will see how to set your wires in the connector
