I just got skyrim through steam and can not get the game to save in the start menu or through console commands. Spent 6 hours on this yesterday. Skyrim also does not create a saves folder anywhere.

Using console command save i get missing parameter string, compiled script not saved. When adding a name to the save it just shows what i typed with no other message or text.

Ive set up a homegroup. Set tesv.exe and launcher to run as administrator. Tried reinstalling the game.

Verifying local game cache through steam keeps showing 1 missing file.

Thats about all ive found from searching forums and guides.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also not using any mods.

Try manually creating a saves folder in Users>(your user name)>My Documents>My Games>Skyrim. If you didnt check for your save files there and this folder exists try deleting it and launch the game without creating a new folder(If you already have other game saves in My Games folder delete only the Skyrim one).

There is a line in the Skyrim.ini (located in [documents dir]\My Games\Skyrim), fifth line or so, called "SLocalSavePath". You can modify this value to change the directory where Skyrim puts the save files. This is how the 3rd party "profile managers" available on the Nexus work, by modifying this line.

However, I must point out, that while I know you can create sub-folders inside the Skyrim "My Games" folder, I don't know if you can map outside of that location. You could try by adding a full logical path, [drive letter]\folder name\...for example, "D:\Skyrim\Saves"

For some reason the edit link is not working on here for me right now...

Anyways, i misread your last post ChakraPowa. There is no other ini in the skyrim folder in My Games.

Sorry for the obvious suggestion lol seen PC date/time mentioned in one of the posts being incorrect causing irregular saves for some people, thought maybe date/time could have an affect on folder permissions as well, maybe.

After all these changes you've made to home group/security settings etc, you've done a reboot since yea?
