I have a Dell Precision 390 with the 0dn075 motherboard. I swapped out the E6600 core 2 duo for the Q6600 core 2 quad. Now with the same settings in CS:GO i get 40 or 50 fps instead of the 60 or 70 i used to get. What happened?
Also, what about your power options? Try set to performance
Yes, after unparking the cores i get about 80 fps on min settings, where as i got 60 on the same in game settings with the dual core. I would have loved double the performance but for now this is good. If i can increase performance some how i would love that. Yes i have power set to performance
Did you upgrade the BIOS? It always a good idea to get the latest BIOS before upgrading to a CPU that while compatible, wasn't available at the time the machine was assembled/sold.
Also, what are your temps at? If you are using the same cooler as the E660 had, it might not be doing a good job keeping a hotter CPU cooled.
the E6600 is actually pretty close to the performance of the q6600, yeah i know the core difference.
this is where it comes down to... the part where ... i ask... are you sure your CSgo is running on all 4 cores? there are quite a few posts about csgo not using all cores automatically

Huh. I've never heard of this problem. Do you know how i can check it, and if its not working, fix it? Windows 10 has one cpu window/graph overall instead of one per core so im not sure if thats the case.. i put the priority to "high" in task manager and that got it to around 60 like my old cpu had. I prefer more though, latency and stuff
Ok, i've been looking for a while on this "not running on all cores" thing and i have a few ideas for that. In the meantime i'm downloading HWMonitor to look at temps. there was plenty of paste on the heatsink, almost none on the cpu when i swapped it. And temps on the old one were phenomenal. I'll update with temps
Idle is around 55c, and load is around 65c. Not so great anymore.. I unparked the cores, there were two that needed to be. Is there anything else i can do?

well ( dont know why you dont know if new or used... lol)
if used then there could be other issues WITH the CPU itself.
but if you unparked all cores, try the game.
Idle 55c is quite high Load temp is not bad. Not sure i didnt look but if you get a better cooler, you could OC taht CPU. I have a q6600, it's running at 3.5Ghz max quite hot though cuz of crappy cooler. good luck . Extra overclock will yield more FPS. but make sure you Mobo can overclock

I dont know about chipsets and motherboards and overclocking, i just know some boards and and some cant. I'm sure this can't, however. Dell has locked all overclocking through their BIOS. Remember this is a dell system. I might try to get a better cooler asap.
