Hi,

I am in a bit of a dilemma choosing between Rx 470 Sapphire OC 4Gb or Rx 470 Powercolor Red Dragon 4Gb, in one hand, rx 470 Sapphire seems to has slightly better base clock and boosted clock at 932 MHz and 1216 MHz respectively, compared to Red Dragon 926 MHz and 1210 MHz, on the other hand, Red Dragon seems to have better cooling system since they got 2 fans on the vga compared to only 1 in Sapphire OC. In addition, Sapphire seems to have a backplate on its vga unlike the Red Dragon ( not sure if it is going to be helpful though performance-wise, p.s. : i do not really care about aesthetics design )
For your information, both price are quite similar to each other in my country and are the only designs that i can stretch to afford at the moment (i cannot afford better rx 470 design and rx 480 too)

Furthermore, i also am confused to choose a new PSU for my setup, my budget is around $45, the options that are within my price range in my country are Antec VP500P V2 or Thermaltake Litepower 550W ( LT-550P ) or Xigmatek X-Calibre 500W XCP-A500 or Enermax NAXN 500W 80+ ENP500AGT.

My current setup is :
- CPU : i7-2600K 3,4GHz Sandy bridge
- Mobo : ECS H67H2-M3
- Memory : 2x4Gb DDR3 Kingston
- Casing with 2 14cm fan
- my monitor is LG HD Plus the screen resolution is 1600x900

I am hoping that my new setup will last around 2-3 years in the future and to play new games such as Witcher, Civilization, Far Cry on high or ultra setting if possible.

Sapphire all day. PowerColor of recent has aimed at higher performance, but at the cost of dependability and/or aesthetics like fan volume, coil whine etc.

Might holdout a few days to see what the prices might be on the new gtx1050ti which will give the Rx470 a serious run for its money.

Out of the psus, the AntecVp is the better choice.

Think high settings, your mobo precludes any OC which would have helped with fps, so lowering settings a little will be your best bet. With a 1600x900 monitor though, ultra might be reachable in some games that are more dependent on the gpu than cpu.

Hi,

Thanks dude, great advice ! I was thinking the same way too according to my research but would like to know the experts' thought on this forum.

Yes, i will definitely wait for 1050ti and quite hopeful for rx 470 price cut too, anyway, is it possible that gtx 1050ti be better in terms of performance compared to rx 470 or even Gtx 1060 3Gb, i noticed that it has 1Gb bigger Vram compared to Gtx 1060 3Gb ? I am newbie, by the way, i am sorry if my question is silly

Even at 3Gb, the 1060 will still be the stronger card. Where it's strengths lie is in dx11 games compared to the rx480. From everything I've read, the 1050ti will be approximately the same compared to the Rx470, stronger in dx11 games yet bumping heads in dx12. It's supposed to be available at @usd $150 on release, but the OC aib partner cards might change that, unknown atm.

As far as the ram goes, having 1Gb more ram will just mean in the few games that really push high ram usage, it'll hold its own a little longer than the 1060 3Gb will before performance starts to take a hit.
