Is it possible for you to install an older gpu with your new one to play older games?

I have myself an R9 290x, great card, but I can't play some of my older games with it because of bugs that I don't want. I have another card (AMD as well) in my previous PC, which can run older games. So, will the 2 cards conflict with each other? Or will AMD catalyst update my other card to the point where I can't use it to play as well?

Solution
You can put two card in the one pc, they wont conflict. Amd catalyst probably won't update the drivers for your older card, but if it tries then just cancel the driver installation.

they will run only 1 card at a time it be ok if they are the exact model exact card u be fine diffrent brands dont matter just same model range should work u be better to run a single card ur better off to beter preformance adjust your resolution to suit
