I have 1 GB internet, up and down, but chrome downloads at about 200kb/s. Firefox downloads at 100kb/s, but then (SLOWLY) speeds up to about 500 kb/s. Anyone got any fixes? I've asked on Chrome forum, but didn't know if anyone here knew anything.

go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and post the details, as for web sites being slow, I have seen people reporting slow web browsing on busy sites, at times it was windows updating in the background, also if someone in your home is streaming Netflix or Hulu you will find that without setting QOS priority to your PC over their stream your speed will be slow.
also you do not mention if your on ADSL or Cable or Satellite as your ISp connection
It more than likely is not an issue with Chrome. It could be that the website you are downloading from is connected to the Internet through bad infrastructure. Just because you have 1 GB internet does not mean they do. The websites server could be overloaded, or if you are trying to do it wireless, that could be an issue.

It seems as that could be the case, but it happens on other websites as well. Oh well.
