My friend just built a new pc, and gets BSOD with any windows from 7 to 10, and it's always different. Sometimes Kernel, sometimes NTFS.sys, sometimes different kinds of drivers. We tested the hard drive, stress tested the cpu, removed all the gpu-s, and tried both the memory modules by themselves, and still getting BSOD random times. All the parts are still under warranty, but can't figure out what to send back, if he has to send back anything.

The config is:

  • I7-6700
    Gigabyte Z170 MOBO
    2*8 gb 3000 mhz ram
    gtx 1060 6 gb
    1 tb wd blue
    Cooler master b500 500W PSU

Solution
Does it give bsod's when working of the igp? Means taking the gtx 1060 out and use the motherboard video output.

Did you change settings for the ram? Like set XMP to enabled in the bios so that the ram works at rated specs. The speed of 3000mhz might need an overclock to get there so try it if not, otherwise set it to the default spd speed of 2133mhz if you already did change this to enabled

Try things out one by one,not at the same time..

It has a 3000mhz base clock, not oc, and we even tried to run without a gpu(disabled the built in hd530)
