I7-6700t vs 6700k in a desktop build with a gtx 1060

That's a fine combo.

The i7-6700t runs at 3.6GHz Turbo and can't overclock whereas the i7-6700K can go over 4.5GHz probably, but you need a lower frequency in a small PC.

So again, it's going to run just fine depending on your expectations. If you're asking about CPU bottleneck it's generally not much of an issue.

Whether I'd buy an Alienware Alpha is a different story.

Also is that a 6GB GTX1060 or only 3GB?

Yes, but he's talking about the Alienware Alpha. The i7-6700T is the best you can put in there.

Other:
I don't see the GTX1060 listed for the Alpha so I'm not quite clear now what this question is about.

Do you already have the Alpha and are considering moving the i7-6700t into a desktop?

If so, I'd investigate what you could sell the Alpha for instead because that's an expensive machine to be ripping apart. I'd rather you SELL it, or at least the CPU and buy a full i7-6700K for the desktop.

the t series are low wattage and consequently low power.
You are comparing a 2.8 base clock to a 4.0 base clock.
Yes, both can turbo higher if only one core is used.
Really not good for a gamer.
You are giving some 50% in performance for a 10% price savings.
Even more if you consider overclocking possibilities.

If you really want a strong compact gamer look into a ITX build.

I'm going to use the graphics amplifier which I already have, to add a 1060
