Built a new PC and when I booted it up the debug port LED would light up at all no matter what I tried. it wouldn't POST, go to bios, nothing but power up and remain idle with the board and CPU cooler powered and running.

FYI: I am already going to return the MoBo as I believe it to be faulty and the limit on returns is closing soon. I'm making this thread to troubleshoot in case it's anything else and for others that may run into the same problem.

specs:
CPU: i7-6700k
MoBo: Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7
Cooler: CoolerMaster masterliquid pro 120
PSU: CoolerMaster v650/ Corsair RM850i (tried both to see if the PSU was the problem)
All other components were disconnected to see if I could just get the debug LED to come on.

I recreated the same setup on another system
specs:
CPU: i7-4790k
MoBo: Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK
cooler: Corsair H55
PSU: CoolerMaster v650/ Corsair RM850i (again, tried both)
All other components removed to match the Z170X setup

when Z97X was powered up it would have it's debug LED cycle through its codes. Z170X would remain idle with no Debug LED. Disconnected power to CPU and turn the system on Z97X would cycle through power with no debug, Z170X would remain (powered on) idle with no debug.

troubleshooting:
I checked to see if it was the CPU by removing it and checking the socket pins which all seemed fine, reinstalling the CPU, reapplying the thermal paste and resecuring the cooler heatsink.
I tried switching from single Bios to dual bios removing power between each switch.
I reset the CMOS by removing the onboard battery for 10 minutes as to the recommended 1 minute.

Still no Debug LED. No post. No BIOS. No nothing. It just sits there idle when powered on with all system fans running and everything on the MoBo coming on but the Debug LED.

finally a video for an eyes on look:

thank you for your time I hope this helps someone in the future.

Hey there woolfwoodonline did you find a solution to this? Have the same issue with a brand new build...have tried a few things as suggested on various forums and nothing works...please let me know if you got it up and running. Thanks.
