Sorry guys have to reopen this topic !
I have Low GPU usage on Battlefield 1 GTX 980TI on 1080P resulution , all ultra DX 12 + TAA+ HBAO on Res Scale... GPU Usage is only 70-85%

IF i set 133% Res Scale ( 2K Resolution) Then Usage is 99% alltime .... so is it CPU bottleneck ?
I have Intel i7-3930K Processor and even when i OCed TO 4.2 GHZ ... still 80% Usage :/

now i tested my i7-3930K on 4.5 GHZ ! Same problem ! Same low GPU Usage !
For example on Map Scar when look from my Base To point C , it's like 50 FPS ! And GPU usegae is there 60% only ! Is This really cpu problem or can be something other ? i7-3930K is now weak you know guys and even Oced to 4.5 GHZ it cant solve utilization problem ...

BF1 has a few optimisation issues regarding processors at the moment - a quick google search can tell you that the game is using 100% CPU usage on a lot of CPUs particularly i5s and i7s.

I'd just wait until the first big patch comes out, hopefully they will fix it.

Unfortunely we can't expect games to run fine within 6 months of release date anymore.

1) First, have you compared DX12 to DX11?

Last I looked DX11 was working better.

2) CPU bottleneck?
Possibly.
Your CPU might be 80%, but the game probably can't use all twelve threads so it might be maxed out on the cores it is using.

However, I don't think you should be hitting a CPU bottleneck.

So...?

Not sure exactly, but there do seem to be some performance issues with this game. I'd go back to DX11 first then see if that helps with anything.

no it's a GPU bottleneck (though i believe it may be driver/software related). If lower resolution does not tax the GPU and a higher one does that's a dead giveaway your CPU is not the issue. In your case your increasing the resolution dynamically but the same rules apply. Something is going on though it sounds like. To be sure what is your frame rate at native 1080P and at 133% scale? Have you tried a fresh driver install for your GPU. If you want to know your CPU's maximum frame rate for any given game do this. Lower all graphics settings and resolution to the lowest possible settings (not including CPU based physics systems like havok or physx on CPU). Whatever frame rate you get, your CPU is capable of at any resolution generally speaking assuming your GPU can keep up. Greater than 100FPS game play can be a different story is some rare cases but your talking about 50FPS per second issues so it does not apply here. So again check your frame rate at both settings and let us know after doing a graphics driver update. I run 2 GTX 1080's in SLI with the SAME CPU and overclock and have yet to hit a CPU bottleneck in any modern game at 1080P or higher resolutions.

how is this GPU if when i stay ant look at poin C i have 50 Fps on 100% scale and on 133% scale to ? Gpu usage on 133% scale is 95% and on 100% scale is 60% ... logically it should be CPu bottleneck not GPU right ?

All games had 99% usage on my 980 ti ... tomb rider, witcher 3 , mafia , GTA V , Doom and so on ...

On single player in battlefield 1 GPU has 99% usage and like 90-120 FPS alltime ! no drops ! But mulityplayer is another story with 50 fps dips !

Yes bro ! You are right .... seems like CPu bottleneck ... but i saw benchamrks in multipalyer and even on 6700K OCed to 4.5 GTx 1070 had 80% usage .... so it is game problem ? there is no cpu that can handle it on 1080 P ?

I can run it on 133% scale ( 2K resulition ) just fine with 50-80 FPs ... it,s just sad that i can't get 60 + even on 1080P ....

All other games run perfect ! Had Gtx 1060 before and differnece is like 25-50% , depends on game

Well Ram goes high to like 10Gb or even 11 sometimes but it;s ok ... CPU usage is like 40-50% absolute max .... no even 45% i guess .... temps are okay to like 55 or 58 C dont remember , gpu is under 65 .... for 980 ti is perferct you know ...

Had no issules or fps drops expect this game ... all other games run perfect as they should...

60 to 70 fps ? on average maybe yes but never below 60 ? try scar map ... form englan side begin from baze and go to point C ) i don't get 50 fps all time , only on some places ... average fps is 70-90

and rx 480 is strong strong card to

One more thing ... when i test full server vs empty server ... usage is better on empty server and i got like 15-20 fps boost ... but it happens on all servers ....

have to metion again ....on single player i get 90-120 fps and gpu is on 99% usage alltime

i do not study the fps that well. but i always keep it on display. I did not play that map yet, but ill check tonight on the map you suggested and get back to you.

90-120 fps sounds about right for single player.

seems liek its super sensitive ) no drops below 70 fps now on stock clocks and never dips below 85 on oced ^^ now all i need cpu cooler to maxout my gpu ^^

My comments on how to detect a GPU bottleneck were dead on. We are getting to the same point though so i don't understand your confusions. if your cpu can do 50fps at 600P it can do 50FPS at 1080P or 2160P (4k) but yes your cpu won't being doing 50FPS at 600P and then 60 at 1080P. Point is what ever frame rate you can get at the lowest resolution/graphics settings...your CPU is capable of at any resolution and graphics settings (excluding CPU based physics settings). Then the issues becomes if your GPU can keep up as you increase those settings/resolutions.

I only bring it up because i see posts all the time..."is my CPU powerful enough/bottlenecking my GPU" questions all the time. Most people don't realize how little CPU power they need and that as resolution/graphics settings goes up in any given game CPU requirements do not in general (save CPU based physics effects obviously). It seems counter intuitive but I have tested it extensively over the years. CPUs are good for much longer then most people realize for gaming. Even now with my i7 3930k being several years old. There is little reason to upgrade it for gaming at 60hz @4K especially with better multi-core utilization in modern games.

Ram was going to be me next guess. I am glad you found the root cause. Recently games have been getting more sensitive to ram channels and speed where as in the past it made little difference in most games save racing ones. Now games like Fallout 4 or any game using texture streaming will benefit from faster ram and more channels.
