But of a complicated/ maybe impossible question here: I live in America I have a GameCube I purchased when I lived in England that was sent to me by relatives and I want to see if I can get it to work. I have a plug converter to power it, and when I plug the red, white and yellow cables in I get sound but no picture. I tried this with a functioning American GameCube RCA cable and it didn't work either, any ideas on a converter? What are the spec differences between rca cables here and there?

Solution
Europe uses PAL system while it's NTSC in America. RCA cables and connectors are same for any system.
If you connect NTSC output to PAL you may get B&W and possibly distorted picture but it doesn't work the other way around.

This is a great answer and the info I was looking for, I didn't know what to search for when looking for what I now know is the tv analogue for the specific country. I found some cheap PAL to NTSC converters (and vice versa, in one piece of hardware) but you mentioned that wouldn't work. Are you sure? There seem to be a lot of converters out there
