I have an Optimum internet account at home. My girlfriend lives on the basement floor and I can get a super strong signal for the Optimum Hotspot Wifi at the front of her place right next to the window but this signal diminishes to unconnectable once I get to her lounge room. Anyone have suggestions how I could boost the signal so I could have this internet access in the loungeroom?

It's probably the wall construction causing this. If you can't run network cables to the area from the router, try using powerline network and wire up an access point to the connection in her area.
Setup would be 1st power line box by main router, 2nd power line box in the area with the issue, WiFi access point connected by ethernet cable to that 2nd box.
