I live at university apartment. We have a payment system to gain access to wireless internet 35$ per month.. Not bad in my opinion no complaints there. The Company has decided not to give access to ethernet and undoubtly the wireless is very unreliable. I have a wireless access point((UniFi_AP-AC)Square one) with a secondary port for an Ethernet cable. I was wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on if its even possible to access a wired connection through this secondary port? The access point is " UniFi_AP-AC " Thankyou for your time.

Are you looking to tie into the infrastructure that is already there? If so, be aware that those are power over eithernet devices and plugging into a secondary port will bring PoE voltage to anything on the cable.

No, the "Main" port on the rear accepts POE, neither pass out POE voltage.

OK good to know. I couldn't find the square access points on the web site, but am aware that some Unifi devices pass through PoE. However the round AP-AC Pro does not pass PoE on the secondary port.

Whats more of an issue is the fact that the POE sender unit sends POE regardless, there is no detection like there is on POE switches, if you use an Ubiquiti POE injector its giving you 48v regardless of whats on the end. (Don't use them on other POE devices)!
