I have a Verbatim external hardrive. model #47501 and it have some other text i don't know what is JH7X15, or lot# JH7X15. I bought it in 2008 and it have not worked for the last 3 years. My pc can't find it but it turns on.
I tried looking at google an youtube and found out that most of the time, the hard drive is fine, it's just the sata card that is broken

So I want to open it up and take the hard drive out and connect it to a doc and hope it work.

So to the question. I think I can open it with a sharp object and it's just clips that holds it together, but which way do I open it? Is it on the top or bottom or does it matter?

Solution
This will mostly likely have a 500gb 3.5 inch SATA drive in it. Which ever way you break it open, you can extract the SATA drive and connect it to a PC either using a SATA to USB dongle or into a SATA bay.
