Confusion Over Power Supply

Hey guys,

Today I just bought a GTX 1070 to replace my GTX 960. However on a second look at my power connectors I'm baffled. I see no yellow 12v wires going into the GTX 960. I only see what looks like black and white wires or black wires with a white stripe. I also have a 2 pin power connector with a black and white wired. Am I screwed and need a new power supply or is this some kinda strange coloring system of the wires? I see yellow wires, but none are going into the GTX 960 or the spare 6 pin? Can anybody help me understand this? Can a GTX 960 run without 12v yellows or is the coloring scheme mixed up? The power supply is 500 watts and the computer model is a HP Envy Phoenix 860-019. Any help would be appreciated and ty

If the power connectors on both the GTX960 and the GTX1070 are identical, then is should just be a matter of plug and play. However, if your power supply does not have the necessary power connectors for your specific GTX1070, then yes. A new power supply is required.

Coloring scheme is manufacturer dependent. It appears that HP skewed from the norm of Black and Yellow.

What is the specific model number of your GTX 1070?

yes that's the card Wolfshadw. Unlike a standard 6+2 pcie connector where the 2 pin is closely branching off the 6 pin, this 2 pin has it's own independent line. Do 2 pins connectors only serve to work with a 6 pin connector for a 8 pin pcie connector or do 2 pins have another purpose?

That, I'm not sure about. I've never seen a 2-Pin power connector from the power supply except as a part of the 6+2-pin PCI-E power. Typically, the 6-Pin and the 2-Pin snap together forming the 8-Pin and plug directly into the 8-Pin PCI-E port on the graphics card.

If this is a separate wire combo from the power supply, then I have no idea what it may be.

ok ty Wolfshadw, maybe like you said the color scheme for the wires is different cause a 6 pin should have a standard 75 watts right? If the 2 pin has a white and black wires does that mean a ground and some other voltage like 12v? Like should the 2 pin have both grounded lines or one ground and one power? I don't know why they would make the wiring on these connectors confusing.
