i have a i5-3550 3.3ghz cpu
8gb ram ddr3 1600mhz
and i'm thinking about upgrading my Rx-460 4gb wind force , to an 8gb nitro Rx- 480

I think you mean will your i5 bottleneck a RX480?

The answer is maybe a very little bit but you would still get great performance and it would be a huge upgrade from your 460.
