What is your motherboard?

RAM is all about the motherboard.
To give you an idea about DDR
DDR1 - Really freaking old. Had this in a 2003 PC.
DDR2 - Still pretty old. Had this in my 2006 PC.
DDR3 - Currently using this on a PC that was built in 2012, upgraded 2016.
DDR4 - Will be in use for all of today's new motherboard platforms.

Check to see which your board supports. Pretty much every board prior to 2015 but not too too far back had 240-pin DDR3, whereas anything past 2015 (Intel Skylake) has 288-pin DDR4.

As far as Hertz goes, find what your board supports. Most Skylake boards use DDR4-2133, some I think can use higher Hz counts. It depends on the board, try to find out your board's product number and read the manual online if...
