Network adapter suddenly stopped working, error code 10.

I was playing BF1 last night when all of the sudden I was disconnected. I checked in device manager and saw that my intel network adapter had a yellow triangle beside it. It said "failed to connect (error code 10)". I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers, restarting, checking the ethernet cable, and I just did a hard reset with Windows 10, and it's still not working. Also there is a constant orange light by my ethernet port. I was told that it isn't a hardware issue if the device manager can detect the driver, but I don't know what else to do. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Specs:
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1

The device manager could certainly detect the network adapter, but it still not work, it just means that the adpater is not 100% dead.

Now are we talking about a dedicated nic port on motherboard, an add-on ethernet card, a intel wifi adapter, or a usb wifi adapter?

Yes, it works fine on a different laptop, I also tried a new cable and it still didn't work.

Damn, well I guess that's what I'll do because I definitely don't feel like replacing my entire motherboard right now. Thank you for your help stranger.

No problem.

Do yourself a favor and make sure your surge protector is working correctly (no error lights).
The network port on the motherboard is the most common thing to short out because it is an escape path for electricity that is often not using the same outlet ground as the rest of the computer/peripherals. This is way the nic port is the most common thing to get damaged during a lightening storm.

If your surge protector is good but you have a really cheap power supply then that could cause the problem to reoccur.

Will do.
