gpu crash while playing

My computer keeps "crashing" when ever Im playing a game after awhile it will randomly crash and say Gpu have failed and come back (somthing like that)
I have
i5 4440s CPU
Gtx 1070
Asus z97a

First, what is the make and model of your power supply? Second, what is the make and model of that 1070? The first step to troubleshooting is doing diagnostics. Download a stress test program that tests the GPU and CPU (OCCT is one of them).

Also, are you using a GPU control and monitoring program (MSI Afterburner is the best)? You need to find out if you are getting thermal issues (card getting too hot and crashing/shutting down) under load.

Do that and come back and report your load temps on that GPU as well as fan speed %RPM.

My 1070 is the reference card. And I have a 725 watt power supply from sentey.
Also sorry for the down vote I hit it by accident I'm on my phone!

LOL I was sitting there thinking what did I say wrong? :lol: In any event, Sentey is a VERY poor quality PSU. Some have reported theirs catching fire. So run some tests when you have the time and report back those numbers.

This may sound silly but how do I use occt to run a stress test I have never used one before (I his on and it has a green bar that days testing and i some graphs it's on CPU)

After testing my system my CPU stayed at around 50°c with the fans at 1015 rpm. While my gpu stayed at around 50°c as well

Are you sure they were under a stress load at near 100% use? Seems awfully low to me on the GPU side for temps under load.

Well I redid the test and the gpu stayed the same while the CPU rose by 10° leaving it at around 65°c

Something is still not right. Did you download and install MSI Afterburner? Need to see what %load the GPU is running.

Well at this point, I'd narrow it down to two things: corrupt drivers or your power supply. I've read that your PSU is not really 725W but instead more like a 500-550W, and the amps on the +12V rail are sub-par.

So I would first do a clean driver sweep and download them again from scratch. If you still get the same crashes/errors, then I would seriously point a finger at the PSU assuming you do not have a faulty video card.
