I7 6800K or 6700K? And what's the best motherboard memory combo that will perform the best?

6700k is enough and you will need a z170 board for that. Something like this.

6700K is a good choice as is the Z170-A suggested by Hellfire 13, another good one is the Z170 Pro Gaming (also an Asus mobo. For DRAM I'd look to 300/3200 for best price to performance. Gskill TridentZ and Ripjaws V are my favorites

Thanks for the advise guys... I went with the I7 6800, ASUS X99-DELUXE II LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, GskillRipjaws V 32GB (2X16) DDR4 2400 dual channell memory, Corsair H100iV2 cooler, EVGA Supernova gold 750 P/S, Asus GeForce GTX 1080 Video card

Now to figure out the overclock!!!

Get together, get the latest mobo drivers and BIOS from the website, get Win up to date, set the DRAM up via XMP, then jump into the CPU OC

Take it up slow and monitor temps as you go
