Building a new computer the parts, I intend to use are the

Graphics: Strix GTX 1070
Processor: i7 6700k or i5 6600k
Motherboard: (possibly) Asus Z170 Pro Gaming

My current processor is an AMD 8350 and my motherboard is a Crosshair V Formula-Z. I didnt know this at first but I heard that an Intel processor is incompatible with my motherboard. Is this true?

I wanted to use just the Strix 1070 card with what I have but I got the distinct feeling my processor is going to bottleneck it. Hence why I came on here to ask for some suggestions for a new motherboard and whichever processor would work best with the graphics card. Any help would be appreciated.

Intel chip has different socket architecture from amd. They simply dont fit on the same board. More here...

As for a new processor and motherboard, depends on your budget/need. Also the unlocked(K) chips are meant for overclocking, and you should only go for it if you intend to overclock in future. Also for K cpus you need a z170 board.
