I can't reach my router

My problem is that my router works only as switch. I can ping other PCs on the LAN, but I can't ping the router itself. I've downloaded an app that should list all devices on the network, but it only finds the computers connected by cable. After a blackout the device rebooted -according to the leds successfully- but the DHCP on it, the web server for the config page, the router function were all dead. And the reset button does nothing.

With "it only finds the computers connected by cable" meaning no wireless connectivity? Make and model router?

Please run and post the results of "ipconfig /all" from the command prompt.

Do you have admin rights and access to the router's configuration screens?

Actually, my phone finds the AP but I can't connect to it. It starts connecting, then the AP disappeares and after some seconds it appeares again and from the beginning...

It's a tp-link tl-wr841n with OpenWRT on it.

I'm gonna send the screenshot of the ipconfig, but I can tell that as the PC can't find the DHCP server it gets a temporary, class B address and the gateway is empty (unless I set them to static).

I can't even reach the config interface. The router's ip address should be 192.168.0.1 according to the last configuration.

Another problem is that I can't even reset the router. I mean I've tried everything with the reset button (long press for 3 - 5 - 30 - 60 seconds, double press, single press and then long, ...) but nothing happened. Everything is dead but the switch function works. Is it possible?

My thought is that the OpenWRT installation/flash did not install correctly with respect to the TP-link router.

Double check that OpenWRT can be run on your router model and version number. Make sure that you flashed the correct firmware.

This link will help:

https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd

The process can be tricky and maybe some step or configuration went astray. Some error in the documentation or execution of the install.

It appears that the router is still "alive" enough that you might go back and try a "do over".

Just be aware that the router could already be "bricked" beyond some recovery or even have more problems after a second attempt to install OpenWRT.

And, perhaps you have encountered some lockdown on the router. No evidence per se but something to consider.

E.g., http://www.extremetech.com/computing/224611-faced-with-fcc-regulations-on-router-capabilities-tp-link-blocks-open-source-updates

As I told, it was after a blackout. It worked fine before with OpenWRT.

According to the User Guide (http://static.tp-link.com/res/down/doc/TL-WR841N_V9_UG.pdf) the router's default IP is 192.168.0.1 as you have tried.

OpenWRT may have defaulted back to 192.168.1.1 as I understand the defaults.

Try that IP.

Otherwise maybe there was some power-related damage to the router.
