Hello I planning on building a gaming/schoolwork computer, I am however debating between the i7 3930k(six-core) and the i7 4820k(quad-core) I know they are not current gen but that doesn't mean they are bad. And I also know that i7's aren't necessary when it comes to gaming but compared to an i5 4690k they are better at gaming(according to cpu.benchmarks.com.). I can't afford a i7 6700k I can find the two i7's for under $200 and the i5 4690k for like right at $200. I will be playing BeamNG.drive and few other games but that's the most intensive game that I will play(one car per-core). So what do you guys think? Sandy-Bridge or Haswell? Thanks in advance! I am still considering the 4690k.

EDIT: If I can I will get a i5 6600k if I find one cheap. There's a used one on ebay for $200 but I don't have the money at the moment so if your looking one for better hurry up on that deal.

Temporarily a GTX 560Ti. Keep in mind that I am currently using a Celeron N2830 with iGPU. So this a heck of an upgrade.

Though i'm not familiar with how demanding BeamNG.drive is, the i5 4690k is also a very good cpu. According to the system specs for BeamNG.drive you need a high end i5/i7, so the i5 4690k should be fine.

But you said gtx 560TI temporarily, do you have an upgrade in mind and to which gpu? That will also help in the decision.

I'm hoping a 1070 if I find a good deal on it. But more than likely a RX 480 or a GTX 1060. I don't have disposable income.

The gtx 1060 is a very good card fir it's price, in combination with the i5 4690k you will get very good performance. For fairly cheap. The recommended gpu for BeamNG is the gtx 780, the 1060 is atleast on par with it so it should do well and will play any game at ultra at 1080p.

Sorry I know this is a little late(due to that I didn't see it) Thanks for your recommendation I know some about this stuff, but doesn't hurt to ask. I am probably not going for those i7's due to requiring a X79 chipset motherboard. I also have another question this is for a different build for my midi keyboard. I am going to be doing some DAW(Digital Audio Workstation) what parts would you recommend budget $500-600 USD. Right now I'm with an i5 6500(no need for a GPU no gaming on this computer) and I probably won't be doing any overclocking because there would be no need. Would there really be any performance difference between an i5 or an i7? The software I'll be using will be Ableton Live 9/or Reason. Thanks!
