I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on my next build. I really haven't used the overclocking on my past computers other than to post a number. I am ready to order today.

Looking at Micro Center

I want something stable but will spend extra if there is a valid reason down the road.

I want to futureproof as much as possible and require good audio and optical out.

If I go with the 6700 non k I shouldn't need a new cooler, I am assuming?

If anyone can suggest a good ram for these boards I would appreciate it.

Present equipment is an Antec P182 large tower, R9 290 GPU, Old Corsair TX750W PSU
assorted HD's and SSD.

I am also thinking of getting a 650w or so PSU just to be safe as my Corsair is7-8 yrs old.

Any help would really be appreciated. Been looking for hours.

If you want future-proof, go with the i7-6700k. You can overclock it in the future to make it last longer in the future's games.

A good RAM kit would be G.Skill DDR4-2400 16GB kit.

Replace that PSU immediately with a new RM650X or EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W.

You'll need a new cooler for the 6700K, the 6700 comes with a little crappy stock cooler that should keep it under 80C. Let's move on to the power supply. The one you have should not be used for such a powerful CPU. As stated above, the Corsair RM650x and the EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650 are both very high quality units and will serve you well.

What are your requirements/expectations? Gaming? Video editing?

You wont need an aftermarket with a non-K chip but you can still theoretically OC a 6700 non-K. Depends on your needs.

Excuse me if I'm mistaken, but I believe he's speaking of the mobos mentioned in the title.
